Officials are warning travelers to be careful after razor blades were found on pump handles at several gas stations in the Forest City area, a little more than an hour west of Charlotte.
The first razor blades were found Monday by a Department of Agriculture employee during a routine inspection and that prompted a search of other pumps and stations.
The Forest City Police Department said in a statement that they are investigating in cooperation with the state Department of Agriculture; officials added that people should be aware of their surroundings while pumping gas and always check before grabbing the gas pump handle.
