The Coast Guard rescued three adults and a 15-year-old from a sinking sailboat Thursday about 100 miles off the coast of Cape Hatteras.
The Rojodan crew contacted the Coast Guard, saying that they had lost the use of both their engines and jib.
The Coast Guard was unable to tow the boat because of the distance from shore and high winds and sea swells, so a helicopter crew responded and hoisted the four people from the sailboat, which had begun taking on water.
They were taken to Air Station Elizabeth City where they were given dry clothes before they were dropped off at a local hotel. Nobody was hurt.
