Security upgrades to close Camp Johnson gate for about six weeks

Military Bases

Camp Lejeune security upgrades will result in a gate closure next week, which is expected to last about six weeks.

Security upgrades to the Camp Johnson Gate will require a full closure beginning December 5th at 6 p.m. through January 20th at 6 p.m.

To access Camp Johnson, those traveling on NC-24 should use the Wilson Gate entry.

Detour signs directing personnel to Camp Johnson will be in place during the closure.

Base officials say those who regularly use the Wilson Gate weekday mornings should expect delays during the closure and plan accordingly.

The security upgrades at the Camp Johnson Gate are part of a larger Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune project requiring several gates to undergo closures over the next year.
