The Corolla Wild Horse Fund is working to preserve habitat for the wild Banker Horses of the Outer Banks.
CWHF has established a Land Acquisition Fund, which that allows supporters to donate towards the purchase, conversion, and maintenance for property that will be held in conservation.
The donations will also fund monitoring water quality, planting native, horse-friendly vegetation, and work to help prevent unnatural flooding.
A targeted north-to-south corridor of undeveloped property has been identified using information on horse movement and grazing patterns, herd dynamics and behavior, and the use of habitat areas by the horses at different times of the year.
Since 2015, nine parcels of land have been secured.
