Two new manufacturing sites in ENC were touted this week by the office of Governor Roy Cooper.

SunTree Snack Foods says it will create 94 new jobs in Wayne County, investing just over 10 million dollars to establish an East Coast manufacturing site in Goldsboro.

The new facility in Wayne County will increase the company’s manufacturing capacity and its national footprint.

New positions include machine operators, office personnel, production staff, technicians, and managers. The new jobs have the potential to create an annual payroll impact of more than $4.7 million.

A performance-based grant of $250,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will help with the expansion to North Carolina.

In rural Robeson County, BIOPHIL Natural Fibers, a manufacturer of organic raw materials, PLANS to create 41 new jobs, investing just short of 11 million dollars to locate a new processing operation to Lumberton.

Founded in 2019, BIOPHIL processes hemp stalk to produce fiber and hurd as a sustainable alternative

to materials either nonrenewable, non-biodegradable or otherwise harmful to the environment.

BIOPHIL currently operates a processing facility in Pennsylvania and will add a more than 90,000

square-foot building in Lumberton to expand its production operations.

A performance-based grant of $125,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will help with BIOPHIL’S expansion.
