An eastern North Carolina sheriff’s office has donated equipment meant to keep civilians and aid workers in Ukraine safe.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office partnered with the North Carolina Sheriffs' Association and Samaritan's Purse to provide ballistic vests to help protect civilians and aid workers in Ukraine.
The sheriff's office donated the body armor, which could not continue to be used by deputies because it was past its expiration date. Most manufacturers of ballistic armor will only warranty the product for five years, and Sheriff Tim Manning said while the manufacturer warranty may be expired, often the vest will still effectively protect people that do not have one.
Officials with Samaritan’s Purse said the gear will help protect pastors and church members who are helping deliver life-saving supplies to areas of Ukraine currently under siege.
