North Carolina legislators have returned to the old Capitol building in downtown Raleigh for the first floor session there in three years. The state House met in the 1840 building on Tuesday to take a few votes on legislation before adjourning after almost an hour. The General Assembly has met at the nearby Legislative Building since 1963 but returns to the Capitol from time to time, often for special events. The House and Senate both met there in 2019 to observe the 75th anniversary of D-Day. The Senate chose not to join the House at the Capitol on Tuesday, meeting at the Legislative Building instead.
