The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality along with the Glass Recycling Foundation has awarded $235,000 dollars in grants to support glass recycling projects across the state. According to a news release, the grants will be used to help expand or establish glass collection systems as well as purchase glass cleaning equipment to improve the quality and value of recovered glass. Pitt County received $70,500 dollars for a trailer and equipment for its glass collection site. The town of Pinehurst as well as Moore County, Mecklenburg County, and Sonoco Recycling also received grant funds.
