The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Infrastructure is accepting public comment on a proposed plan to dole out over $100 million dollars in federal funds for stormwater projects across North Carolina. Funds are available for cities and counties and their regional councils of government and nonprofit entity partners for projects that will improve or create infrastructure for controlling stormwater quantity and quality. According to a release, the funding is part of $1.69 billion dollars appropriated by the General Assembly from the state’s allocation of the American Rescue Plan for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater investments in Sections 12.13 and 12.14 of the Current Operations Appropriations Act of 2021 (S.L. 2021-180). The deadline to submit comments is June 3rd.
