The 2022 North Carolina strawberry season is underway. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler said in a news release that strawberry growers were successful in protecting the crop from recent cool temperatures and that this year’s crop is expected to be plentiful. Some fields will open for pick-your-own strawberries this weekend. Strawberry season in our state typically runs from mid-April through May. According to the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, North Carolina ranks fourth nationally in strawberry production, growing 1,100 acres of strawberries annually.
