N.C. Forest Service moves Eastern Aviation Hub to Duplin County

The N.C. Forest Service Eastern Aviation Hub is relocating to Duplin County from Kinston Regional Jetport. According to a news release, the new facilities created for the N.C. Forest Service and its growing fleet includes two new hangars, additional office space and other infrastructure. These facilities were constructed by Duplin County Airport with funding from the N.C. Department of Transportation’s Division of Aviation.

The Forest Service aviation division provides forest fire detection and suppression programs across the state and supports national forests, parks and military installations, along with forest management, pest control and water quality programs.

The Duplin County Airport Commission is hosting a ribbon cutting for the new facilities on Thursday. The event is hosted in partnership with the N.C. Forest Service, the NCDOT’s Division of Aviation, Duplin County Board of Commissioners, Duplin County Economic Development Commission, and the N.C. Department of Agriculture.
