Pentagon and State Department officials are cautiously optimistic about the future of Iraq in testimony before the Senate. But they concede that fighters opposed to the U.S. military appear to have a "central nervous system" able to coordinate complex operations such as the bombing attacks that struck several Iraqi cities this week.
