Abbey Lincoln In The World Of The Artist

Abbey Lincoln started her career in the 1950s on the supper club circuit. She left that world after meeting the innovative drummer Max Roach. In 1957, they made the first in a series of records together, which featured Lincoln backed by such jazz luminaries as Sonny Rollins and Eric Dolphy. Lincoln's songs began to reflect her growing involvement in the Civil Rights and Black Pride movements.
