The Carteret County Board of Education will require mandatory face covering wearing for all students and staff beginning Thursday, August 19, 2021. Multiple media outlets report that the board voted Wednesday to require masks for the first two weeks of school. The Board will meet again September 7th to reconsider the mask requirement. On Tuesday, Craven County Schools announced an updated policy that will require students and staff in pre-K-13 to wear masks due to an increase of COVID-19 cases. Pitt County Schools voted on Monday in favor of mandating masks.
