Hurricane Dorian Emergency Shelters

Beaufort County - Shelter at Washington High School opens Thursday 0800. The county will provide transportation to the shelter tomorrow. Meet at the Belhaven Food Lion Parking Lot at 1000 or 1200, the Aurora Fire Department at 1000 and 1200, the Blount's Creek Fire department at 1030 and 1230, and the Chocowinity Food Lion parking lot at 1100 and 1300.

Carteret County A general shelter that is pet friendly will be located at Newport Middle School and will open on Wednesday September 4, 2019 at noon. The shelter is located at: Newport Middle School 500 E Chatham Street, Newport, NC.  Residents can call Carteret County Area Transportation System (CCATS) at 252-732-0825 to schedule transportation to the shelter.

Craven County Four shelters are being opened at 4pm Wednesday, September 4th for residents who are voluntarily evacuating: Creekside Elementary School, 2790 Landscape Drive, New Bern, Ben D. Quinn Elementary School, 4275 Doctor M.L.K. Jr. Blvd., New Bern (pet friendly), Farm Life Elementary School, 2000 Farm Life Ave, Vanceboro, and Havelock High School, 101 Webb Blvd, Havelock.

Duplin County will open four shelters at 5pm on Wednesday at Wallace-Rose Hill High School (602 High School Rd, Teachey, NC 28464), Beulaville Elementary School (138 Lyman Rd, Beulaville, NC 28518), North Duplin Elementary School (157 N Duplin School Rd, Mt Olive, NC 28365), and James Kenan High School (Pet-friendly location—1241 NC 24 and 50 Hwy, Warsaw, NC 28398)

Hyde CountyThe general population shelter for evacuees from Hyde County is located at Northampton County Cultural and Wellness Center, 9536 NC Hwy 305, Jackson, NC 27845.  The shelter will be open and accepting evacuees at 12 noon on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.
 
Jones County will open the Jones County Civic Center in Trenton as a shelter Wednesday at 1700
 
Lenoir County A shelter for residents affected by Hurricane Dorian will open at 7 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 5, in the gymnasium at Lenoir Community College, 231 N.C. Hwy 58, Kinston.  There will also be a companion animal shelter provided for county residents at LCC. The County Transit department will provide transportation for county residents requiring it at no charge. The service will run until 1200 Thursday. Call 252-523-4171 and hit option 2 to speak to a dispatcher. If you need transport after 1200 Thursday or on Friday, call the Lenoir County EOC at 2525-559-1911. Pets will be transported as long as they are in carriers.

Onslow County will open shelters Thursday, September 5th at 7:00 a.m. Those shelters include Swansboro High School, Dixon Middle School, Richlands High School and Jacksonville Commons, which is considered a Special Needs Shelter and Animal Shelter.

Pamlico County - An emergency shelter will open at Pamlico Community College (Johnson Building) 5049 NC HWY 306 S. Bayboro, NC 28515 Wednesday at 8am.

Pitt County will operate five shelters: Ayden Middle School, 192 W 3rd St, Ayden, NC 28513, E.B. Aycock Middle School, 1325 Red Banks Rd, Greenville, NC 27858, Farmville Middle School, 3914 Grimmersburg St, Farmville, NC 27828, Hope Middle School, 2995 Mills Rd, Greenville, NC 27858, and Wellcome Middle School, 3101 N Memorial Dr, Greenville, NC 27834.  All shelters will open to the public at 6:00pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.
