North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis says he remains hopeful that Congress can come to an agreement on immigration reform. Tillis, a Republican, has co-sponsored a proposal with independent senator Kirsten Sinema of Arizona.

Their plan failed to gain traction last year, but Tillis says it's a start.

"We have to have everybody on the same page for what the problem is, before we can start drafting a solution to it," he said, "I think that we're further along in the Senate. Now with the change in leadership in the House, we need to engage our House members."

Tillis led a bipartisan delegation of Senators who visited the U.S./Mexico border this week. He says the Biden Administration should do more to enforce agreements with other countries, so people seeking asylum in the U-S do not illegally cross the border.
