Two people were rescued from a disabled sailboat by the U.S. Coast Guard on Tuesday, 218 miles East of Cape Hatteras.

Another boater notified the Coast Guard at around 8 a.m. Monday that the sailboat had hit something, which caused the rudder to fail.

A Coast Guard cutter towed the boat to Chesapeake Bay where it was transferred to a commercial towboat.

There were no injuries.
