CarolinaEast’s President and CEO is retiring at the end of June. PRE’s Meredith Radford has more.
Ray Leggett has served as CEO of CarolinaEast Health System for the last 13 years. According to a news release, Craven Regional Medical Center expanded into the multi-facility CarolinaEast under his leadership.
Leggett spearheaded efforts to expand services at CarolinaEast, including the construction of their comprehensive cancer center that opened in 2020. He also cultivated relationships with medical leaders that led to CarolinaEast’s 2021 affiliation with UNC Health.
He led the health care system through the COVID-19 pandemic so far, helping it become one of the first in the state to receive and administer the COVID-19 vaccine.
CarolinaEast will soon begin a national search for Leggett’s successor.
For Public Radio East, I’m Meredith Radford.
CarolinaEast is a financial supporter of PRE.
