The North Carolina Department of Transportation reported Friday that five employees on the Pamlico River ferry route between Bayview and Aurora have tested positive for coronavirus. According to a news release, the five employees are currently recovering at home under quarantine. Four other employees that were in contact with the crew have not tested positive, but are also under quarantine. The vessel has been cleaned extensively. The terminals at both Bayview and Aurora have also been cleaned and sanitized since the positive tests. NCDOT requires crew members to wear face coverings and passengers are encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing. NCDOT says passengers who think they might have been exposed to the virus should contact the Beaufort County Health Department.
