The number of COVID-19 cases at East Carolina University in Greenville tripled last week. The university began tracking confirmed cases of coronavirus on July 5. From July 5 through August 1st, an average of 11.5 students and employees tested positive each week. However, the university said there were 30 cases the week of August 2nd through the 8th, just before classes began. Students accounted for 28 of the cases and two were employees. Since July 1st, ECU has required face covering when in public places and face-to-face meetings, including classrooms, labs, and buses.
