The North Carolina Board of Elections reports over 79,000 registered voters have cast ballots through the first weekend of early voting.
Interest in the Democratic primary appears to be running high, with nearly 44% of ballots cast so far cast by registered Democrats, who make up about 36% of registered voters. Republicans, who make up nearly 30% of registered voters, have so far cast about 29% of early ballots.
Early voting continues through Saturday, Feb. 29. Photo ID is not required to vote in the primary.
