Most road construction will shut down for the Memorial Day weekend. The State Department of Transportation said in a news release that major construction along interstates, U.S.. and key N.C. routes will be halted from Friday morning to Tuesday night. Some exceptions include construction conditions that do not allow for the opening of all lanes. According to AAA, 1.2 million North Carolinians are expected to travel during the Memorial Day weekend, an increase of more than 7% over 2021.
