Seattle Police Chief Announces Retirement After Budget Cuts, Protests
Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best announced that she’s retiring, effective Sept. 2. Her announcement comes after protests in Seattle against police brutality and the city council vote to reduce Best’s salary and shrink the police department.
