Researchers at East Carolina University in Greenville found a new way to detect the COVID-19 causing coronavirus: by testing the air in buildings’ ventilation systems. PRE’s Meredith Radford has more.

Researchers at East Carolina University in Greenville are enrolling people in a clinical trial for an experimental pill that was shown in another study to reduce the risk of hospitalization or death in people who had COVID-19. PRE’s Meredith Radford reports that the purpose of this study is to find out if the pill can prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in those who have not yet been infected.


A groundbreaking study into what may cause ALS was recently released by a researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Maddison.  According to ScienceDaily.com, scientists pinpointed an error in protein formation that could be the root of ALS.  Commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig Disease, ALS is a progressive degenerative disease  that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.  Raising funds for ongoing research is part of the reason for next weekend's Down East Walk to Defeat ALS in Greenville.  The non-profit Jim "Catfish" Hunter Chapter hopes to educate the public with the event
