Gov. Roy Cooper issued an executive order on Friday extending proof-of-immunization and health assessment documentation deadlines for school and child care facilities. According to a news release, Executive Order 234 does not waive documentation, but rather gives students and families more time to complete required vaccines and health assessments due to the increased demand on health care providers amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Proof of required immunizations and health assessments are usually due within 30 days of the first date of attendance. This year, the 30-day “grace period” for students will begin Nov. 1, 2021.
