Our "Montford Point Memories" series, honoring the legacy of the first African-Americans in the Marine Corps, continues with recollections from 93-year-old Edwin Fizer Jr.
Mr. Fizer grew up in New Orleans, Loisiana and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1942. He was one of the first recruits to arrive at the segregated training facility Camp Montford Point in Jacksonville, NC.
