Onslow County’s COVID-19 cases continue to climb, setting a new one-day record on Friday. PRE’s Meredith Radford has more.
More than 750 new cases were reported in Onslow County on Friday, breaking the previous record set four days earlier.
Onslow County’s positive test rate is now almost 27%, over 10% higher than one week ago. Health Department director Kristen Hoover reported one additional COVID-19 death Monday, bringing the total deaths to 283 in the county.
Hoover says StarMed has expanded their testing hours, which are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. Testing is also available at Goshen Medical Center and many retail pharmacies. She says the average turnaround time for results of a COVID-19 test is about 1.5 days.
Almost 57% of the Onslow County population is fully vaccinated. Hoover says the health department is open for COVID-19 vaccines five days a week. While appointments are strongly recommended, she says they do their best not to turn anyone away.
