North Carolina hit a pandemic high for the number of adults in Intensive Care Units. The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services said in a news release that a record 912 adults were in the ICU on Thursday. The number of COVID-19 patients on ventilators also reached a record high at 574. NCDHHS says unvaccinated people are more than 15 times more likely to die from COVID-19 compared to individuals who received the vaccine. That’s according to new data in the weekly respiratory surveillance report. In North Carolina, 65% of adults have received at least one COVID-19 shot and 60% of adults are fully vaccinated.
