The City of New Bern will get reimbursed for work done to restore electricity following Hurricane Florence.  FEMA and the State of North Carolina will allocate more than $2 million to compensate the city for replacing damaged utility poles and transformers following the 2018 storm.  In September, FEMA awarded New Bern $5 million in reimbursement funds for cleanup expenses due to the storm.  According to the New Bern Sun Journal, more than $100 million in commercial and residential damage was sustained across New Bern as a result of Hurricane Florence.
