The state Department of Transportation says construction work requiring lane closures will be suspended beginning this Friday to accommodate holiday traffic. The suspension of lane closures will stay in effect through January 2. There will be exceptions for those construction sites where re-opening lanes would produce unsafe conditions. DOT expects the heaviest travel will occur over weekends before the holidays and on Christmas Eve. The state Highway Patrol will be conducting a Booze It and Lose It safety campaign during the travel period.
