Residents of Cumberland, Edgecombe, Robeson and Wayne counties can now call 2-1-1 to schedule an appointment at a Hurricane Matthew Housing Application Center. The centers, known as ReBuild NC Recovery Centers, opened November 30 in the four counties most severely impacted by Hurricane Matthew. Residents in these areas who suffered damage to their homes from Matthew may be eligible for assistance. When disaster survivors visit the centers for their appointments, application specialists will meet with them in person to guide them through the full application. State officials recommend that applicants expect to spend two hours completing their application during the appointment. To date, more than 1,400 North Carolinians have scheduled appointments to apply for disaster recovery grants and more than 600 families have applied. Applicants are asked to bring as many required documents as possible to their appointment. Visit Rebuild.NC.Gov for a checklist of documents to bring.
