Hurricane Isaias Causes Widespread Power Outages Across ENC

Hurricane Isaias has caused widespread power outages across Eastern North Carolina, leaving hundreds of thousands of people in the dark.

Duke Energy reports about 175,000 customers in the eastern part of the state are without power this morning, with most of the outages in New Hanover County.  Onslow County has 13,872 customers without power.  8,905 customers in Craven County are without electricity. And Lenoir County has 5,245 customers without power.   Duke Energy says more than 2,200 workers are prepared to respond to power outages across the Carolinas.

Carteret-Craven Electric Co-Op reports 11,433 members are without electricity in Carteret, Craven, Jones, and Onslow counties.  Storm crews are ready to restore power once it’s safe. 

The Jones-Onslow Electric Membership Corporation says 39,880 of its customers are without electricity.  

The City of New Bern reports 7400 customers are without power.  Crews hope to begin power restoration at 6 am.  Public works crews will start clearing limbs and debris from roadways beginning at 6am.
