Gov. Roy Cooper announced on Thursday that 475 new aviation jobs are coming to the Global TransPark in Kinston. Aircraft Solutions USA Inc., which refurbishes and recycles commercial and military aircraft parts, will invest $99 million to establish an aircraft recycling center. Construction will begin on large hangar facility where workers will disassemble aircraft that have reached their end of life stage, recycling up to 96 percent of the parts and materials. Aircraft Solutions also plans to establish a paint shop in phase two of the project. The average salary for the new positions will reach as high as $47,069, which is higher than Lenoir County’s average wage of $36,766. More than 1,000 companies make up the state’s aerospace supply chain. North Carolina has the second fastest-growing aerospace product and parts manufacturing sector in the nation.
