GREENVILLE – Officials with the city of Greenville believe the city’s computer network has been infected with a ransomware virus. A press release from the city says they have shut down the majority of their servers, but plan to bring them back online gradually to determine the impact of the virus so they can determine options to remedy the situation. The city says all operations are continuing though the press release states "we are having to adjust some of the ways that we do things in some areas." The Associated Press reported that while operations continue, anyone wanting to pay bills must do so with cash. The city says they do not believe at this time any personal information has been compromised.
