Carteret County Reports Fifth Coronavirus Death

The Carteret County Health Department on Wednesday reported that a person who tested positive for coronavirus has died.  The individual died yesterday from complications associated with the virus. The resident was in their 70s and had an underlying medical condition.

Stephanie Cannon, Carteret County Health Director said in a news release, "while we continue to see asymptomatic and very mild illnesses withthis virus throughout our community; for some of our higher risk population, this can be a serious and even deadly virus. Now more than ever, each of us must do our part to prevent the spread of this virus." 

Cannon urges residents to follow the three W's: wear a mask, wait six feet apart, and wash your hands frequently.  Statewide, there have been more than 1,500 coronavirus fatalities since the pandemic began.
