The North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame has announced its 2017 inductees. George Olsen has more.
The eight inductees announced yesterday include a star of the old American Football League, a one-time Harlem Globetrotter and a sportswriter with nearly 40 years of experience. Glenn Bass played football and baseball at ECU before spending several years in the AFL as a receiver with Buffalo and Houston. Dwight Durante is the career points leader for Catawba College and toured with the Harlem Globetrotters. And Caulton Tudor is best known as a columnist for the News & Observer and was the North Carolina sportswriter of the year three times. Other inductees include Stephanie Wheeler, an Olympic gold medalist in Women’s Wheelchair basketball, and Mike Fox, who has won over 1300 games as a college baseball coach at North Carolina Wesleyan and UNC-Chapel Hill. The induction ceremony will take place in May. I’m George Olsen.
