Opening in June 2022, the Greenville Museum of Art (GMoA) is honored to host "Growing Up Queer in the South," a juried group exhibition curated by Parks McAllister, which documents the experiences of LGBTQ+ folks through art influenced and inspired by their formative years spent in the American South.This exhibition will be on display at the Greenville Museum of Art from June 3 - September 24, 2022.Join us for the opening reception, hosted by the Dr. Jesse R. Craven Arts Council & Gallery is seeking sponsors for upcoming public art project, Peace by Piece. Peace by Piece is Craven Arts Council & Gallery’s latest project in their Art in Public Places program. Art in Public places is a new initiative to create and document large-scale community centered public art pieces, made by the community for the community. Peace by Piece will be a long-term art installation symbolizing our community working together for harmony and the diversity of our town inspired by the legend of 1000 cranes popularized by Sadako and the 1000 Cranes. Sponsorship benefits include name or company logo on Peace by Piece pole, media recognition, invitation to dedication and a handmade table top crane. All sponsorships are tax-deductible and support Craven Arts Council’s endeavors to continue their Art in Public Places series and create more community focused public art throughout Craven County. Music Therapy for Parkinson’s will be available starting March 9 at 10 AM. The sessions are free and available beginning Wednesday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. The sessions are being offered online by Pamlico Parkinson’s and New Bern support groups. A presentation, “Music in the PD Brain” by Movement Disorder Specialist Matthew Brodsky, MD, describes how Music Therapy can enhance alternate brain pathways around the parts of our brain damaged by Parkinson’s. The III Century Singers is proud to present a program of music popularized by the Rat Pack including such favorites as "Come Fly With Me", "I've Gotta Be Me", "My Way", "That's Amore", and many others.
The Rat Pack - a casually organized group that included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr. Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop, performed on stage and screen primarily in the 1960's and 1970's.
Concerts will be on Sunday, May 15th at First Baptist Church in Goldsboro at 3:00 PM and at First Baptist Church Mount Olive on May 17th at 7:00 PM
