A Carteret County couple was arrested for child sex crimes and is likely to face drug charges after a search of the home.

Cape Carteret Police say they searched the house on Bayshore Drive Saturday night as part of an investigation of sex crimes against a child and suspected drug crimes.

Chad Scoggins, 52, was arrested and charged with first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, second-degree forceable sex offense and second-degree forcible rape.

Kimberly Wyatt, 52, was also arrested and is facing the same charges.

Scoggins and Wyatt are each being held on a $150,000 secured bond.

Investigators add that a search of the home found marijuana, marijuana wax, the remnants of a marijuana growing operation, various unknown pills, and items typically used to manufacture, package, use and store drugs and additional charges are pending.
