Jared Brumbaugh

Jared Brumbaugh joined the PRE staff in May of 2006.  He currently serves as an announcer for A Prairie Home Companion, and a part-time reporter.  Jared is a New Bern native and grew up listening to Public Radio East, but never dreamed he’d be working at the station 10 years later.
Jared says his favorite thing about working at PRE is the staff.  “I try to absorb as much as I can from being around them.”  His news spots and feature stories can be heard during Morning Edition, and The Down East Journal.  Jared says his favorite feature story was when he interviewed Furney Eubanks, a Pollocksivlle inventor who created the Easy Mower, “His invention was one of a kind, and he was a very nice man.”
Jared is currently attending Craven Community College for an Electronics Engineering degree, and plans to graduate Summer 2008.  When Jared is not at the station, he enjoys playing drums in his band Sycamore Sighting, surfing, wakeboarding, football, and Ultimate Frisbee.  He hopes to continue with the radio business, eventually opening his own station that plays Christian rock music.  Currently, he is working on starting a Broadcasting Club at Craven Community College.
